Partners In Preservation | Vote For The Rocket Thrower

Photo: William Yan

The Rocket Thrower in Flushing-Meadows Corona Park is a 43-foot bronze sculpture designed by Donald De Lue for the New York World's Fair in 1964-65. The sculpture depicts an athletic man throwing a spear into the sky has been damage through out the years and can use some votes from you all to win the $3 million in grants provided by Partners in Preservation for giving it a new patina, re-gilding the stars and applying a protective wax all around the sculpture.

Make sure you help restore The Rocket Thrower or any other historic sites by voting daily until May 21, 2012 at:

Partners in Preservation | Vote for the High Line

Photos: William Yan

The High Line is another one of forty historic sites in NYC that are competing for $3 million in grants by Partners in Preservation. I recently voted and decided to pass by and show you guys why it's worth voting for. I started at the tail end of the High Line at 30th Street where it currently ends though the tracks are extended but sealed off to the public. I made my way down the walkway to meet up with some friends who were out and about taking photos.

This is pretty much where the High Line ends and is currently sealed off, make sure you vote for them so they can get the grant to further restore and extend the High Line. You can vote for them or another historic location daily through May 21, 2012 at:
