INTERVIEW | Kareem Black on LIFE

 

What's the story behind KareemBlack.com/Life? How did it start? Why?

I have always had a ton of photos that lived in my I-photo or in other random locations  that didn't quite fit on to my main site WWW.KAREEMBLACK.COM . They were either too edgy or had more to do with my life style or just random tidbits that I saw in my regular life than anything that may get me work etc... or at least that's what I thought at the time. I built the "life" site so that I could have a place to put and show these images... In a way its sort of cathartic to be able to show these images that I thought were not only dope but also might give people sort of a better Idea of whats going through my head on a day to day basis. I see a lot of strange things (many of which I may need to come up with a completely separate PG-13 site to post) that I wanted to show and not have people come to my house and look at my I-photo to see. KAREEMBLACK.COM/LIFE is my outlet and release for that.

How often is it updated?

This is sort of my baby right now..I'm going to try to update ti about twice a week. I want to just keep adding to it so that its just one long strip that covers years of experiences.. Have you ever looked back at old pictures and memories come rushing back that you may not have remembered otherwise? That's how I want this to be for me! If I was smart I would have started this site when I first picked up a camera!

Kareem Black's 10 Life Lessons...

1. Loyalty is what separates us from the animals.
2. There are a few other things that separate us from the animals like running water, written language, etc.
3. Republicans are strange people usually.
4. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.
5. Vegas is an evil place second only to Macau.
6. Australian girls are really amazing people to party with. Australian guys usually are annoying. Although my boy Ben Baker is amazing as a friend and as a photographer.
7. Learn to play chess. (Seriously, it helps)
8. Never fall in love with the things in life that destroy men.
9. Never give up, no matter the cost.
10. I used to say that a true victory was to make your enemy see that it was wrong to have  opposed you in the first place. I now know this is not true... A silent un-gloating victory is still a victory.
